'' take your past and burn it up and let '' it go , c a r r y on i'm s t r o n g e r than you'll ever know Weekends were heaven for Lorcan. For the entire 48 hours, he basically did nothing at all. Okay, that was pretty much a big fat lie but Lorcan made sure that he did nothing work-related or anything that would actually make him stressed. Saturday’s were his favourite out of both the days because he actually got everything done, saw people and stayed out of his house whereas Sunday’s he just stayed in his house all day. For example, earlier that day he didn’t get out of bed until half ten, he then got read and visited both his parents which he then had lunch with his mother, did some food shopping and went for a jog. He knew it wasn’t exactly the most exciting way to spend his Saturday but he just didn’t feel like doing anything that made him actually get into his car and/or leave town so that crossed out most things he could do. Tomorrow he would most probably spend the day catching up on TV shows that he had missed during the week or going online to talk to people he would probably never meet in person. Yes you got it; his life wasn’t exactly one to write a true life story one but it never had been and never would be. The twenty two year old had never been the liveliest of people and he wasn’t one to party unless it was to cheer up one of his friends. He was the type of person to prefer grabbing a Big Mac meal at McDonald’s to getting wasted from Jack Daniels.
Walking through the streets of Trenton, he couldn’t help but smile to himself as he felt the autumn breeze blow on his pale skin while the sun shone down on the back of his neck. He loved the autumn weather especially since the town got covered in a sea of brown and red leaves. The only thing he could actually think he hated about the season was that the weather started to get really cold and the mornings were dark. Lorcan just didn’t want to get out of bed to go to work in the mornings when it was still dark outside. On his body, he wore a pair of dark blue denim jeans, dark sneakers and a white t-shirt; a navy fleece jumper hid some witty motto that was printed on it in blue, plain text. Walking into the familiar donut shop, Lorcan couldn’t help but take a deep breath in, loving the sweet smell that instantly filled his nose. The aroma always reminded the male of all the past memories that had taken place in Dunkin’ Donuts, a place he had been coming to for as long as he could remember. Brushing a hand through his dark black hair, he slowly walked up to the counter, signalling that he was here and that he wanted his usual of a dozen donuts and two cups of dark coffee. Like always, he was due to meet his best friend so they could share the twelve donuts, him eating the most, and talk about all the weeks events. They rarely got to speak anymore due to his work schedule.
Taking a seat in one of the many vacant booths, he had a quick glance around the place to see if he knew anyone. Of course he did but they were thankfully too busy eating and talking to their companay to actually notice him. He didn’t really want to have a awkward converstion at the momesnt, especially with a person that he didn’t he didn’t really care about. It wasn't as if the person would come over anyway. Lorcan was known for not being the best person to have a conversation with which was something that he had only brought on himself. Turning his attention to the huge window that was near his booth, he smiled a little as he watched the vehicles and people move back, making up stories about them in his head so he could keep himself occupied as he waited.

Brooke had spent the morning of the Saturday just lounging around doing nothing particularly productive, but that was rare for her, she was normally out with friends doing something, even if it was the morning, she wasn't that big a fan of mornings, she liked a lie in as much as the next person but she also liked to be productive and thought that there was no point doing nothing most of the time when she could be out doing SOMETHING. Brooke was energectic and didn't like doing nothing, but the again she had a big family so there was always someone to keep her entertained. Her older brother and sister still lived at home which she loved because she was super close to them, even if they were really protective of her and their other younger sister. She kinda hated it but in a way she loved it because she knew they cared about her, which was why they did it, and secretly it was one of the things she loved most about them, of course it did get annoying when she had boyfriends...especially her brother, but she had learnt to deal with it and liked to actually wind him up about it.
So she there and then decided to get out of her sweatpants and hoodies and stop watching reruns of boring shows that she didn't even watch much. It was kind of stupid but that was what she had been doing most of the morning, her mother had been at the store, if she didn't hate going with her so much she would have gone with her, but she normally went on her own if she was asked to go, or with one of her siblings because her mother just seemed to take forever when she went and she would get so bored. But when she went with her brother and sisters that was always fun because they would usually put a load of things in that they wanted but weren't necessarily needed. She got up and went for a shower before she found something to wear and got dressed. It wasn't hard for her to get ready to go out somewhere on a normal day because she wouldn't normally put in too much effort. She went with simple make up and casual attire. She normally didn't see the point of getting all dressed up because it wasn't a special occasion. But then her phone went and she got a text. It was her best friend, obviously she was glad to hear from him. She was always happy when he wanted to see her. Or when she wanted to see her. Sometimes their work and college scheduals were a bitch and that caused them not to see each other that often sometimes.
She grabbed her car keys and iPhone and went out to her car, plugging her iPhone into the radio system she drove into town, Donuts were her thing, that and cupcakes...well most food really, she was a sucker for them....the ones with the jam in mostly but she did like the ones that had the hole, and had sugar on top, they were good too. Donuts were genuinely a win in her opinion though, if someone brought her doughnuts she knew there must be some kind of problem, she remembered when her grandma had died and her parents brought her them, she knew from then it was bad news. She parked up, managing to get a place just outside and walked in. She saw Lorcan straight away and smiled widely and went over to him. Hay you! she grinned at him. Hows it going she asked him with a smile. She sat down and hugged him then placed a kiss on her cheek, it was just the way that she usually greeted him so that it wasn’t anything weird about it anyway. Then she picked up one of the donuts and took a bite. mmm so good! she grinned then took a sip of the coffee he ordered her. You are such a doll for ordering for me, you know me so well. she said with a smile and took off her jacket. Outside it was rather cold but inside it was warm and they had the heating on.

'' take your past and burn it up and let '' it go , c a r r y on i'm s t r o n g e r than you'll ever know Lorcan grinned widely as he watched the waitress come over with two big coffee cups and a big box that was presumably full of the donuts that he ordered. Gratefully thanking her, he glanced down at the plain white box, wondering whether or not he should open it. He went through the same process every week and every week he ended up opening them so it didn't take him long to go with his tradition. The smell that travelled to his nose as the lid was removed made his mouth water. He looked the top of each one over, deciding which one would be his first. He picked one of the ones closest to him, bringing the cake to his nose to have a smell before he finally took a huge bite from it. He couldn’t help but love the taste and he strongly believed that the smell of donuts would be what heaven smells like. He knew he should have waited until Brooke arrived but the temptation was just too strong. Even though he knew she would be arriving any minute now he just couldn’t physically wait. It was like putting a beer in front of an alcoholic; well it would be if Lorcan had a donut addiction, though now that Lorcan thought about it, an addiction to donuts would be rather cool and safer than most addictions that he could think of for the time being. If you removed the obesity factor that is.
Brooke came when the donut was half demolished and Lorcan couldn’t help but beamed as she came into eyeshot. “Hey B,” he murmured after he quickly swallowed the mouthful of cake, hugging her carefully so he wouldn’t get any sugar or crumbs onto her. He felt totally comfortable around her though if he had known her for as long as he could remember so if he wasn’t comfortable there had to be something wrong with him. He may be socially awkward but he wasn’t that socially awkward. He basically knew the brunette inside out, well at least he liked to think he did. “Everything’s ok, you know the usual. Saw my parents earlier. I think my father’s carrying on with his neighbour’s wife... well, at least he’d like to be. There are only so many times you can compliment someone’s flowerbed,” he rolled his eyes at the scene his father had caused at in his garden earlier that morning. It was a nice a morning so his father thought it would be a good idea to talk outside, his neighbour was out there trimming and he just kept on and on and freaking on. The fact that the woman was married disgusted Lorcan but what outraged him more was that he was too. Though his parents didn’t get divorced due to adultery, if they did they kept it quiet, surely there is an unwritten rule that you shouldn’t flirt in front of one of your children from your first marriage even if he was twenty two. He was just happy to leave there.
“I arrive before you every week and every week I order so I don’t know why you’re suddenly noticing,” he shrugged it off before finishing the donut off, taking a small sib out of his coffee cup to wash it down. “So how have you been? I know your life has been at least a little more exciting than mine. You always have some interesting story about your siblings or some new guy,” Brooke had always been social so he wouldn’t be surprised if while he was instant messaging people who lived half way across the country the night before, she would have gone to some big party. It had always been that way. He had been the outcast senior while she had been the popular sophomore yet someone, despite the age and social standing difference, they had made it work. Yes, they didn’t hang out much but Lorcan still classed her as one of his only friends. The male pondered that fact as he picked up another donut though he resisted sniffing it that time.

Brooke smiled as she sat down and took her cofffee, listening to Lorcan talk about his dad. She shook her head. She had known that family for as long as she could remember. She had been quite young when Lorcan's parents got divorced, and of course she had been there for him. She was always there for him. Are you serious? she asked him. She knew what his dad was like though, he had always been a bit of a flirt, there were times when he was very friendly with her, but of course she was used to it, even so, she was only nineteen...going on twenty, and he was much older, he should know better...way better, plus she knew he was married, and the next door neighbor was married too, but she had never liked her much. Her family home was on the other side of Lorcan's family home and she had never liked her one bit. Sometimes she even felt guilty that her family didn't have all the dramas and that they were still together. Of course they still had their own dramas, such as Jazzy. She always had a new story for him to tell about her sister. Well if it makes you feel any better, my sister....a nightmare. she sighed. She came in the bar the other day, and showed me her new tattoo! she said shaking her head. She didn't know what would happen if her parents ever did find out, one thing was for sure, she would not be the one telling them.
You know I love my sister, but she can be such a pain, she does things just to push my buttons because she knows I won't tell mom and dad, but I still get pissed, I think she likes it when I get pissed with her if I am honest. She doesn't act like she really cares that much. Anyway sorry I am rambling, I will shut up now she smiled. She knew that she always kind of did go off and ramble and he never really seemed to care, he was used to it by now, ever since she was a kid she had done it. She took another donut and bit into it...she really did love donuts. You know, if they were calorie free, I would totally have donuts all the time. she smiled at him.
Me? she asked when she had finished the bite of her donut, she put the rest of it down and brushed her hands off and shuffled in her seat. Well I already bored you about Jazzy, my brother thinks that I go out too much, he is trying to stop me-yeah good luck with that....he doesn't even live at the house and neither do I really so he is totally gonna fail with that....but he did ask his girlfriend to marry him she said. Mom thinks she is pregnant or something because its like, really soon, but honestly I think they are just really happy together. If she was a bitch I would totally object, unfortunately I can't say that she shrugged. She was close to her brother and missed him, but she knew he had his own life apart from the family now, and so did she in a way. Guys...oh well I am still dating Rich, but he is such an ass sometimes, I really don't know why I am with him sometimes, but then he is really sweet and it makes no sense. We're so on and off its crazy. Maybe I should just break it off. she sighed and looked at him. She usually asked him about relationship advice just because he was her best friend, it didn't matter to her that he was a guy. Anyway what about you? she asked with a smile. She knew Lorcan was much more secretive about his love life, she always got it out of him though. So uhmmm are you doing anything for halloween? she asked him.

'' take your past and burn it up and let '' it go , c a r r y on i'm s t r o n g e r than you'll ever know “You’re asking me if I’m serious?” He questioned, his lips turning up into an amused smile, as his right eyebrow rose, “Brooke, I’m always serious. I mean, I can’t even remember a time when I wasn’t.” He was trying to put light onto the situation, seeing as Lorcan had gotten over his family troubles a long time ago. Actually, that wasn’t true. They still affected him today but it hurt less now. He had become immune to it, at least he liked to think he had. “A tattoo?” He said, trying to act surprised but the revelation didn’t surprise him. He knew what he sister was like and getting a tattoo was just like her. Well, he couldn’t say much really, could he? He also got a tattoo on his wrist when he was too young so judging would just be hypocritical. “You don’t have to freaking apologise. I mean, if you can ramble with me who can you ramble with?” he asked as he dipped the donut in his coffee, taking a small bite out of it before saying, “besides, you know if she stopped being a pain in your ass you wouldn’t be needed by her anymore and then you’d miss it.”
“You know what?” He said as he held the donut up so he could look at it some more, “I would most probably eat them all the time too. I think thats why I enjoy today so much. I can just eat a box of them without feeling guilty. Besides, I’ll most probably jog it off tomorrow morning so I why not?” He shrugged as he took another bite, savouring the taste of the sugar before swallowing. He chuckled quietly as she heard of her brother trying to stop her going out. Even he knew that was going to be impossible. “He asked her to marry him? I agree it is a little soon and you can’t really blame you mother for thinking that. I mean, it’s what they used to do back in her day after all. Give him my congratulations next time you see him. I’ll most probably won’t see him to give it to him myself,” Lorcan hadn’t seen him for a while but he was still happy for him, even if a little envious. He had never found anyone that could love him let alone agree to marry him. Sometimes Lorcan thought he never would. Most people couldn’t even stand him, let alone love him.
“Rich is an even bigger douche than I am. I don’t know why you put up with his shit, Brooke. You deserve a whole lot better than him, seriously,” he sighed as he shook his head. His best friend had always known that Lorcan wasn’t her boyfriend’s biggest fan. It wasn’t that he was biased; he didn’t have feelings for Brooke except for the ones he was supposed to have. He just didn’t like the guy. Brooke deserved respect and he just didn’t give it to her. “You’re beautiful and great, B. You’ll find someone who’ll worship the ground you walked on,” he knew she eventually would even if it did take a few idiots along the way. “Me?” He laughed at the question, shrugging his shoulders lazily, “I’m still single. People rarely like me, remember?” Lorcan had accepted that he wasn’t exactly the social butterfly and that people easily judged him for it. He had put up with it all of his life so he’d be crazy for him. Yeah, he was ‘good-looking’ so women would be attracted to him but they soon changed their minds. “Halloween? I was planning on staying in and having a lame horror movie marathon. You can join me if you want though I’m sure you have some big party to go to. I bet you’ll even convince me to drop my ‘exciting’ plans and come with you even though you know I’m a disaster at those kind of things,” he knew her enough to know that and even though he hated parties, Lorcan just couldn’t say no to her.

She laughed slightly I know she smiled. But that’s just wrong, doing it right in front of you? she shook her head. Even though she isn’t your mother and you’re not a child...you would think he would have better sense than that. she went on. Sorry... she trailed off. She had just gone off on one and not been thinking. She knew deep down he still wasn’t really over his family problems, even though they were in the past, and happened a while ago she didn’t blame him for still feeling emotions for it, to her it was only natural. She tried to imagine what she would be like if her parents announced that they were getting a divorce; she wouldn’t know how to react. She would most likely be shocked because as far as she knew, her parents didn’t have any problems. At least she would have friends to help her through it, she didn’t know what she would do without her friends. Especially Lorcan. They had both been there for each other when times got tough. She nodded, well that was true. He was the one person she could ramble like crazy with. Oh that’s true, I would just be sad that she no longer wanted to annoy me, I guess I can’t win either way she smiled at him. Anyway, I have a tattoo so I can’t really say much can I? she shrugged, We both have one, but at least ours are kinda small, hers is big and right up the side of her...anyway....whatever right? She isn’t going to listen to me, I just need to make sure that our parents don’t find out....you know how they are about tattoos with all their morals and shit. she rolled her eyes. Yes, she loved her parents, but sometimes they could be difficult and be old fashioned. They didn’t understand things like tattoos and piercings, which was why she kept hers hidden.
Exactly! she smiled and took a sip of her coffee. I mean I know I’m thin and all but I don’t know how, I eat loads she laughed. Then she nodded Yeah...I know right? she said completely agreeing with him. Jazzy thinks that it is awesome...she can’t wait to be a bridesmaid she rolled her eyes. That was so typically her sister, she had to admit it was nice that her brother had found someone he wanted to be with, but at the same time she was a little concerned. She knew a lot of couples who got married young, and they ended up getting a divorce. Her brother had always been one who knew what he wanted though so she had a feeling it wouldn’t end badly any time soon. At least she hoped it wouldn’t. I will she smiled. Its kinda funny how he’s like, more the same age as you, yet we’re the best friends. Not that I would have it any other way she grinned, I don’t think my brother could be as awesome a friend for you than me. No one is as awesome as me...okay well us together....there she smiled at him. She really believed they were an awesome pair. In school everyone had found it weird that she hung out with someone like him, but she never listened to them. It wasn’t something she cared about.
She smiled weakly at him when he told her she was too good for Rich. I know, but he can be really sweet and nice. she told him. Normally she really wouldn’t put up with being treated that way, but she had been with him a while and didn’t want to break it off. I guess it’s because we have been together a while. she shrugged. She smiled widely at him. Aww your just too cute you know that? she said and placed a kiss on his cheek. Then she placed an arm around his neck. She shook her head and sighed. She never understood why people didn’t like him, but then she had known him all her life so she hadn’t ever really dealt with his awkwardness, he had seen it, but she hadn’t ever thought it was a ‘stuck up’ attitude many people claimed him to have. They were just idiots in her opinion. Hmmm, horror movie marathon with my best friend, or Halloween party with a load of people....you know what? Staying in with you just sounds that much better. she smiled at him. She knew he hated parties and she wasn’t going to miss an opportunity to hang out with him, plus she wouldn’t subject him to something he didn’t like.

'' take your past and burn it up and let '' it go , c a r r y on i'm s t r o n g e r than you'll ever know “Exactly,” he chuckled before shrugging his shoulders, “I just can’t wait to say ‘I told you so when he eventually gets a divorce. I mean, I know I shouldn’t think that way but the bastard would get what he deserves. And you should be sorry especially since you didn’t do anything wrong,” Lorcan actually liked Brooke’s rambling. He couldn’t say that about most people since he hated when most people actually talked never mind to him. Talking about utter shit seemed pointless to him yet here he was enjoying a conversation with his best friend. “Exactly you can’t win with your siblings. Whatever you do they’re going to not listen to your advice and then blame you when they eventually regret the outcome,” he sighed as he thought about his own siblings and what he went through with them. “She got a tattoo right up the side of her? Is it like freaking huge or something? Because if it is your going to have a hard job keeping it from the parentals,” Lorcan asked, smirking in amusement as thoughts of her parents reaction if they ever did find out which he knew they would. He remembered the way they reacted to his tattoo and its freaking tiny and how they thought he was a ‘bad influence’ on their darling daughter. As if. He thought he was a saint compared to most of Brooke’s friends though he wasn’t really one to pass judgement or anything, right?
“You better watch you don’t get fat. Just because your thin now doesn’t mean you will be forever,” he chuckled, though he could imagine her anything other than thin. Brooke being fat seemed just plain weird to him. “Jazzy would, right? She gets to dress up and be a princess for the day. You’re not looking forward to being a bridesmaid?” He asked, quite surprised. Lorcan thought she would have enjoyed being one though he understood that it was most probably due to nerves about her brother. The divorce rate was increasing after all so it only seemed fair that she would be worried. People who rushed into marriage too quickly often divorced quickly especially when the ‘honeymoon’ period was over. Lorcan just hoped that her brother beat the odds. “True though at the same time it isn’t really. You always got me better than anyone else so it would make sense that you’re my best friend. I find it weird how we’ve stuck together for so long even we’ve left high school. Isn’t that when friendships are supposed to crumble? I agree though, we are a pretty awesome pair B even if nobody else thinks so,” and that came from the bottom of his heart. If he didn’t have Brooke he would probably be all alone.
“If you say so,” he muttered shaking his head as he continued to eat, knowing that whatever he did say would not change her mind. She’d eventually find out Rich was a douche by her own and then she’d be done with him for good, at least he hoped she would. “I can be cute when I wanna be,” he chuckled but soon blushed when he felt her lips on his cheek. He had no idea why either but for some reason he did. “Are you sure? I mean, I know you like to party,” he shrugged thinking he actually wouldn’t mind going to a party if she really wanted to go. The male would do anything for her. “Though if you want to come by my place I could buy some booze and snacks, rent a couple of scary movies so we can have a all-nighter. Maybe I’ll even dress up for you,” he laughed though his mind went blank when it came to actual dress up ideas, “I think I’d look hot a vampire.”

Well at least he wouldn't blame you right?, and you wouldn't have to blame yourself? That is one good thing, in a bad situation. she smiled. It would be his fault, you have warned him...he is just...well no offence but he is kinda stupid. she shrugged. Brooke had always been wary of his father, she knew he had a wondering eye and had given her some looks once or twice, but she was used to that, knowing she was attractive. It was the fact that he was her best friends father, and that he was a lot older. She just found him a little weird at times. Well she showed me, it looks fairly big. It's NOT gonna be easy to hide it, I can tell you that...I have told her that too but you know what Jazz is like, thinks she knows better than anyone and all that, she won't be told by anyone. she shook her head. Jazzy was hard to deal with at times but she loved her sister and wouldn't change anything about her. I complain about her, but I really wouldn't change anything about her. she smiled when she thought about her. When they were little the two had gotten on so well, all four of them had. Sure, they had the general arguments but that was normal, now it seemed Jazzy wanted to go against everything Brooke was trying to help her with sometimes, she knew that sometimes it wasn't deliberate, but other times it was, she knew Jazzy had a reputation, and she had spoken to her about that. Her sister was younger and had more of a sex life than herself, Brooke didn't want to rush that part of her life, though she was reluctant to admit that she was a virgin.
Exactly, she doesn't see it the way I do. she sighed. And Yeah I am happy for him and all that, I just....I am warey of her, she seems lovely but it just seems too soon in my opinion, I think if it were me, then there would be more of a big deal made about it, but because he is the first born, and he is 'old enough to get married' she said using air quotes They will get over it...I am just wondering if there is more to it, like a reason you know? Like that she is pregnant? That's what I have thought anyway, don't dare suggest it to my parents, they will interrogate them and they don't need that. she said.
She grinned as they spoke about their friendship and nodded. Yeah...we have been lucky enough that we have both stuck around here for school. I think we would still be friends even if we had gone away for school. I don't see me losing contact with you just because you mean way too much to me. she told him with a smile.Yeah, we are awesome. I mean my friends in high school didn't understand why, but I never really listened to them much, I hated when they would go on about it. she rolled her eyes. At least I don't really have to deal with that now. she grinned.
She just ignored him when he said 'if you say so.' She didn't see the point in actually making her point any further. More because deep down she knew that he was right, but she just couldn't let go, not yet. Awww, I hope you're not cute with everyone she joked. You know I like to feel special. she told him. Of course she was joking, she knew full well that he wasn't the type to talk to a lot of people, she felt special being one of the only ones that he did actually talk to. Well I do.... she smiled. But I like hanging out with you more, sometimes those parties get too much. she shrugged. Plus that does sound pretty perfect, remember when we were kids and we would do that? she grinned. Vampires are always hot...you would suit that. she smiled.

'' take your past and burn it up and let '' it go , c a r r y on i'm s t r o n g e r than you'll ever know “No offence taken,” he chuckled quietly as he tilted his head to the side, feeling kind of sorry for his father’s newest wife. Even though Lorcan though she was stupid and evidently blind to marry and love his father, the woman was kind of nice. He was just happy that he had someone he could actually talk to about it since he couldn’t very well speak to his mother about it and he felt kind of bad telling his siblings even though they knew very well what he was like. “Maybe you should just let your parents find out about it? I mean, I know they’ll kill her but at least you wouldn’t have to lie to them anymore, right?” He suggested though he kind of knew she would really tell them. She wouldn’t betray her sister like that which Lorcan kind of admired. He knew her sister would grow up eventually as there came a time where everyone had to. The only person who did was Peter Pan and he is just a fictional character. Lorcan actually had no clue that Brooke was a virgin; he had just assumed that she had lost it to Rich despite him being a douche. Lorcan wasn’t one, he had lost his virginity during his freshman year of college to someone he had only known for a fortnight. He had had sex a few more times after that, though they wore more casual than anything, so despite never having made love he at least knew how to pleasure a woman.
“Maybe the reason you wary is because you’ve never felt in love like your brother has,” he suggested, though he didn’t really know if it was the right thing to say. Who was he to say that Brooke had never been in love like that? But then again, Lorcan had always been honest and had never really held back on anything. Besides, it was only an idea. “You know I’m the first to admit that moving too fast is never good, hello I’m from a broken family, but what if it’s true? Maybe when you eventually find the love that he has maybe you’ll feel different. Even if she is pregnant, it doesn’t mean that your brother is marrying her because of it. It’s the freaking twenty first century. Women rarely marry men just because they’re pregnant now as society is more acceptable of it single parents.”
“You mean too much to me to Brooke. I mean, if we ever stopped talking a piece of me would die,” he grinned before nodding in agreement, “thank God high school is over. I feel old saying that I’ve been out of high school for four years now... that makes me feel really, really old. I always thought that I’d be successful by now and though I have degree and shit, I don’t feel very successful.”
Lorcan was glad that she didn’t argue his point especially since the subject of Rich always put a downer on their time together. He was just happy that he didn’t have to talk about the douchebag anymore. “I’m not. Mostly I’m a jackass with everyone so you should feel special,” he chuckled, knowing perfectly well the Brooke already knew that fact. It wasn’t as if he was in denial and though that everyone loved him. He perfectly well knew that he wasn’t exactly the most popular person around town. “I get what you mean, they can get too much and I remember perfectly. You have to admit, my mother bought me some pretty amazing Halloween costumes,” he paused as he thought about each one, grinning in amusement as he remember how trick o’ treating with Brooke. “I’m hot?” He repeated, raising his eyebrow as he tilted his head to the side, “I believe you’ve never actually called me hot before. Just how hot am I? I would say what I thought about you but then I’d make you uncomfortable... or turned on. It could go either way really,” of course he was kind of joking.

Brooke felt bad that Lorcan's father just seemed to be one of those men your mother warned you about, she wouldn't trust him at the best of times and hadn't in a while, she was so glad Lorcan had his own place now. It was such a relief, and also awesome, it meant they had some quiet from their parents. She loved her family but sometimes her sister Jazzy would question the relationship the two had, but it had never been anything but friendship. They had just always been there when the other needed, even in high school when Lorcan was seen as one of the outcasts, she wouldn't ignore him, she would make a show of actually talking to him, not caring what some of her 'friends' thought, because really some of the people she hung around with in high school just spoke to her because they were either in the same group or because they wanted to be around her and she hated those people. There had been a few people she had stuck with though, well more than a few...and of course she made friends in college who she actually got on better with, they weren't stuck up like her high school friends and more open minded. She smiled slightly. That would be the easiest option...in some ways but I would never do it. I think Jazzy resenting me would make it the harder option. I would rather my parents resented me. I know that sounds weird... she trailed off.
Maybe she smiled. That was true, it was funny how he knew that without her even saying it. But she knew she wasn't in love with Rich, she didn't even know if she ever had been in love with her, sometimes she caught herself being slightly worried that she would never find anyone else, but she knew that she was attractive and that there was someone out there for her. She nodded. Oh I know that, but he knows what my parents are like, they would want them to be married first...they are so old fashioned with some things its unbelievable she said rolling her eyes and laughing slightly. Sometimes its not such a bad thing though is it I guess? I bet it would be more of a big deal if it was me or one of my other sisters who was pregnant. she thought for a moment what they would think and she honestly didn't know.
Me too... she smiled and placed her hand on his for comfort. Well, you have me as your best friend, thats one success, so your not a lawyer or a doctor or something fancy like that, you don't have to be to be sucessful, just think of what you have she smiled at him. She believed that and even thought that right now she was successful. A lot of people were, in their own way. Of course there were those who had achieved nothing in life, but she believed that neither she or Lorcan was one of those people. She laughed Yeah, but others judge you before they get to know you she said. That was how it had been in high school. She had gotten some shit from a few of the girls in her group because he was her friend, not once did they make her think twice about being his friend though, it just made them stronger in a way, because she stuck by him and stuck up for him. She did, I remember one year our mothers got the same one without even realizing. That was funny she laughed. Mine have been different. she said with a grin. I don't think my dad has liked a few of them. But he just thinks I should still be in kiddie clothes I'm sure she rolled her eyes. Well I wasn't really calling you hot she said. I just meant....okay I don't really know what I meant. I just said it...not that your not...I mean....shut up Brooke she said. Sorry she laughed.
