Zane was wandering around the Trenton Plaza. Bored out of his mind. Walking in and out of stores, he had his headphones in his ears, music blasting away in his ears. He had seen a few other students from school. He had waved to them, when the wave at him first. He was kind of shocked, He didn't know that particular group of people. He shrugged his bulky shoulders. He walked by a candy store. He paused his steps, Looked at the store, and walked in.
Zane walked into the candy store. Yes. He was craving sugar. He grabbed one of those brown bags you use to put the candy in, and walked thorough the aisle of candy. He spotted the Jelly Beans. He walked over to them. Got a scoop of Sizzling Cinnamon, a scoop of Truti-Fruitti, half a scoop of each: Cotton Candy, watermelon, and Lemon-Lime. He put the scoop down, grabbed some Nerds, his sister Coren loved them. So he'd buy her some. He walked to the front of the store, paid, and walked out of the candy store. On his face was a grin. He put the bag of candy, which was closed off with a red plastic twisty thingy, hell he didn't know what it was called. The Nerds in his pocket. His iPod switched to a song he didn't like, taking from his pocket of his jeans, came out his iPod. Fiddling around with it, he switched the song, and put it back in his pocket.
He decided to go to the food court. Yes, he had just bought about 2.5lbs worth of Jelly Beans, those were for home. He walked down the way and up came the food court. He went to a place that sold pretzels. Soft pretzels. He was in the mood for pretzels. He got two giant salted pretzels. Walking to a table he bumped into someone. He stumbled slightly, He managed to keep hold of his pretzels ’’I’m so sorry. Are you alright?’’ He asked the girl he had bumped into, His Italian accent voiced his concern. He offered his hand to the girl, as his big frame had knocked her completely over.

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky- - - - - - - - - - - - are like shooting stars Mimi felt like today would be a good day for the Plaza. She didn’t drive because it was so nice outside too. Unlike the first day of school, she took her converse out today along with an owlcity shirt, black skinny jeans, a bow on the right side of her head, and a ring. She began to take her first steps outside and she smiled at the sunlight. Good day for a walk. She put her headphones in and walked to the beat of Hello Mexico from Sparks the Rescue. John and Lisa had put a bunch of bands on the iPod that were growing to popularity in America, and she liked every single one. She has yet to listen to a few of the other bands on the iPod however. The first thing she listened to was jazz however. Every piano solo was amazing and she wanted to play like them.
As she walked by all the different stores in the plaza, she went in a few that caught her eye. Some clothing stores, jewelry stores, and a candy store. She ended up spending most of her cash at the candy store however, on sour candy. That was her favorite of all. Within the other stores, she ended up with three new shirts, a black skirt, two pair of pants, two new necklaces, and a bracelet. She smiled and was still walking to the beat of this one-man band. One was really catchy though. Hello Seattle, I am a mountaineer. In the hills and highlands. It just made her so smiley and happy inside. This whole thing with John and Lisa was nothing like her home back in Italy. Her Italy home life was a lot more depressing and heartbreaking. After her family died off, John and Lisa came into the picture and adopted her. She still won’t call them mom and dad because it just didn’t feel right to her. Almost like it wasn’t fair to her parents.
Her stomach growled and she decided that she needed something to snack on. She looked at the clear bag full of sour sweets and decided that it would have to do for now. She walked over to the food court to find a place to sit. There weren’t many people today even though the day was beautiful. She went up to a vending machine and got a Coke. She started to walk back to a table she spied from afar, but accidentally ran into someone. Or, he had run into her knocking her completely over. He said he was sorry and asked if he was all right. He extended his hand to help her up. She looked up and this boy was tall, but took his helping hand. After she was hoisted up, she gathered her bags and her drink, which probably shouldn’t be opened for about thirty minutes after that spill. ”Yeah. I’m fine. My soda won’t be though.” She held the soda up and it was all fizzy at the top. She looked up to find the boy was around six inches taller than her, at least. He had light blond hair and what seemed to be blue-gray eyes. Her brain finally clicked at his voice noticing the Italian accent. ”Are you okay to?” she asked, knowing the question was probably stupid. But, whatever. She was all bubbly around people who had Italian accents. Since, she had one too.

After Zane had helped the girl up, He had the oddest feeling of déjà vu. He couldn't put his finger on it though. Did he know this girl somehow? No... he couldn't have met her before. He tilted his head, then proceeded to shake it ''I can buy you another drink if you like. I’ve had that happen to me, and the soda exploded, even after sitting for a while. I'm fine. I didn't fall to the ground. Which I'm sorry about. I should have been looking where I was going'' he said softly, his hand running over the scars on his neck. Those wretched scars from that accident that took his sister from him. His eyes took on a sad look. He sighed. He took out his iPod out of his pocket, again fiddling with it quickly. He shut it off, then put it back in his bag. He looked around him, looking for an empty table. He spotted one across the way.
''I see a table over there. Do you want to go sit down? He stood there, feeling kind of awkward as he towered over the other girl by about almost a foot. He started getting twitchy. His eyes watching his surroundings. His eyes glazing over…Again. His eyes cleared after a minute, again he shook his head ’’sorry’. Flashback… again’ Zane said muttering softly. His accent heavy. His brows furrowed in deep thought. Still having that feeling of Déjà vu. Tilting his head again, he had seen her in the candy store. But he had a feeling he knew her from somewhere else. He shrugged off the feeling. ’’The tables over there… You can join me if you wish. Maybe we can talk if you want. Your from Italy? You have a very faint accent. Zane said softly before heading over to the table slowly, He turned his head back a few times before sitting down.

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky- - - - - - - - - - - - are like shooting stars After he helped her up, he shook her hand then and offered to buy another drink for her. He said even after letting it sit for a while, the soda still ended up exploding on him. She looked at her nice white shirt and nodded her head, ”Yes please.” Then he proceeded onto the apology saying he was okay because he didn’t fall to the ground. That he should have been looking where he was going. Mimi just shook her head, ”Don’t blame yourself. It’s partially my fault too. Should have turned around before beginning to walk once again.” He scratched the back of his neck or something, sighed and turned off the iPod. He had that look of sadness in his eyes. Mimi also turned hers off and then wanted to make him feel better, ”Are you okay?” Which was kind of a stupid question, but still sincere non the less.
He then spotted a table and asked if she wanted to sit with him. She nodded. He looked kind of twichy like and then he apologized. Saying he was having a flashback or something of that nature. ”It’s okay.” She had flashbacks. They weren’t apparently as much as they were when she was younger, but they still happened. Mostly in dreams; more likely to be called nightmares. He then pointed out a table and said they could sit over there and talk if she wanted. Then he mentioned Italy and her faint accent. She instantly smiled. ”Si!” Si meant yes in lots of languages, but one happened to be Italian. ”I thought I recognized an accent in your voice also.” This was really great. Now she would have someone to talk to. She looked back up at the very tall guy. He seemed familiar. Not like, ‘I know you!’ right away familiar, just something in his stance. She was good with faces, but not names. ”My name is Mimi. By the way.” Maybe if he said his name, she would recognize it. People had those types of names all over the world, except here. Their names were all the same basically; dull and boring.

Zane nodded his head, put his things down on the table, "I'll be right back.. He took a look at the soda first, so he wouldn't end up getting the wrong one. It was a coke. He walked over to the vending machine; put the money required, pressed the coke button, and waited a few seconds, when it popped out he leaned down and pulled it out. When he turned, he stared at something for a minute. The sun hitting his neck, making the scars on his neck sticks out. He walked back to the table, smiled and handed it to the girl, Mimi he believed her name was.
Sorry. But... I'm.. Alright. The flashbacks are a bitch. Just wish I could forget... anyway. Yes. I am from Italy. I've been in the USA for twelve years, and my accent hasn't changed a bit. My family, well, what's left of it, their accent changed, lightened. Mine stayed heavy. It's kinda annoying, but whatever, I don't really care though. I like it. He took a bite of one of the pretzels 'Do you want any? he asked offering part of his pretzel to Mimi. Zane paused, when his cell pone went off, vibrating. He looked at it quickly, ''I'm so sorry. I have to take this. It's my sister.'' Zane said softly. He stepped off a bit, and quickly talked to his sister.
Zane talked to his sister for a good 10 minutes before going back to the table. He sat down ’’Sorry, again. Sister wondering where I was. Then she lectured me. Telling me I should have told her that I should have told her where I was going, blahblahblah. Then I had to remind her I DID tell her that I was going to the plaza.’’ Zane said pouting slightly. He stared at Mimi for a while before saying ’’Am I the only one who’s having a feeling of déjà vu? Or am I crazy.. I swear… I think I know you from somewhere… I can’t put my finger on it though. Which is driving me crazy.’’ Zane said, his brows furrowed, a slight frown on his face, tilting his head.

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky- - - - - - - - - - - - are like shooting stars He put things on the table and said that he would be right back. He made sure to look at the soda before going over and getting her a new one. As she sat there, she just stared at him from behind. She knew that boy from somewhere. Maybe if she knew more about him, she could figure it out. Once he got back to the table, he said that his flashbacks were a big pain. She started to twiddle her thumbs under the table, understanding what he meant by it. He said he was from Italy, but he’s been here twelve years. She’s only been here a meager one. He then went on into his family saying that their accent had lightened up and his hasn’t. He also started the sentence off with ‘what’s left of it.’ She still grinned, but not as much anymore. The sentence was like an arrow sent through the heart. To her, anyways.
His phone went off and he excused himself that it was his sister. She nodded and he went off to the side. She just watched, drank some of the newly bought soda, and ate candy in wait for him to get back to the table. He once again said sorry and said that his sister was wondering where he was. She lectured him and then he reminded her that he did tell her. ”Eh. Siblings. What are we gonna do?” She smiled wanting her sibling back. The brother that never stopped worrying about her. The person that has taught her things in life that she uses, well sometimes anyway.
He then said that he thought he knew her from somewhere. Déjà vu. She grinned a little, ”You know, I was getting the same exact feeling. She kind of frowned and then tilted his head. ”Alright. So, You were in Italy for, what? Five or six years? And what part of Italy did you live in? Venice or someplace smaller? Did you go to kindergarten? That’s the only thing I could come up with.” She met a lot of kids in her younger days, but all of them typically made fun of her because her family was not the richest people around. But, there was this one boy in kindergarten that was her friend, stick up for her when she needed it. But then, he just didn’t come back in the years after that. She didn’t know what happened to him, where he might of gone, or couldn’t remember his name nonetheless.

He nodded his head and chuckled "Very true about siblings. She's been way to overprotective... since... the accident. Zane said softly, his voice sad, his eyes taking on a more of a lackluster look. He sighed, memories flashing through his mind at an alarming rate. He sat there, kind of in a daze, while these memories wrecked havoc on his mind. Damnit! I wish I could just take these memories and shove them into a room that can't be opened. Ever. Er.. Sorry, I sometimes have the tendency to vent for no apparent reason. Zane said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck.
He listened to Mimi speak. He nodded his head. ''Yes. I am from Venice. Me and my...twin were there for six years before our parents took us to the US. We transitions well, but I still miss Venice. Kiki, went back to Italy for school before the accident. Zane said taking on a sad tone. He disliked talking about Kiki, His hand running over his exposed shoulder, was wearing a white, wife beater. The tip of one of the Phoenix tattoo wing showing, if someone was staring at his back. The Kiki tattoo clearly showing. He was planning on later heading to a tattoo parlor and getting a third one. Shaking his head, he turned his head, picking a piece of the pretzel off, he put it in his mouth.
Looking back at Mimi, Yes... We were there until about Kindergarten. My dad got a job in the in Kentucky. So he pulled Kiki and I out of the school program in Italy. Started first grade when we got to the states. I'm glad I"m not the only one having that feeling.. It's seriously driving me nuts... He said smiling slightly. He reached into his bag, and pulled out his own bag of sweets that he bought not 10 minutes ago. Reaching into the bag, he pulled out a couple, all of them Sizzling Cinnamon. He put them in his mouth, He closed his eyes, enjoying the sting of the spicy flavor. He opened his eyes, then though. He hadn’t said his name.. ’’I’m Zane by the way. Zane Darvo He said smiling.

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky- - - - - - - - - - - - are like shooting stars He said that it was very true about the sibling thing. Something about being that way since the accident. His eyes lowered and the color in his face went away. He sighed and went into some sort of daze. She stared at him while he just sat there, but then he snapped back to now. He then started to rant about his memories and then apologized saying that he randomly vented for no apparent reason. ”It’s okay. I don’t mind.” She was used to hearing that kind of stuff from people anyways. She, in her small group of friends back in Italy, was the listener of the four or five of them. He then rubbed the back of his neck and the conversation got a tiny bit awkward when the silence came upon them.
He said he was from Venice. That his and his twin was there for six years until they moved here. He said that they both transitioned well, but he still missed Italy. She nodded in agreement. Then he started to mention that his twin, Kiki, went back to Italy for school before the accident. Mimi could automatically tell that this was a rough subject for him to talk about. She didn’t go into it further. She didn’t want this boy to start yelling at her for something she didn’t want today. He then tore off a piece of pretzel and popped it in his mouth. She did the same with a piece of candy.
He then answered her remaining question; yes, he did attend kindergarten in Italy. When his father got a job in Kentucky, they moved. He smiled and then pulled out his own bag of sweets. Then he introduced himself as Zane Darvo. She tried to think if she knew that name. It somewhat named a bell. [coor=seagreen]”You know that déjà vu thing you were talking about earlier? Well, I think I just figured it out. You would cheer me up in kindergarten when you still lived in Italy. Mimi Gilliam,” [/color] she said her full name, ”Other kids would make fun of me for not having a ton of money, but you were my only friend.” He might not remember, but it had a big impact on her at least. Zane propped his left elbow on the table, sitting sideways in the chair. The Kiki 1993-2008 tattoo showing clearly on his arm. He looked into the bag of Jelly beans he himself had. It was like he was looking for a flavor. nope. His mind was going haywire again. The urge to cut was starting to get overwhelming. He ran his hand over the scars on his left arm. He shook his head yet again and mumbled an apology. He turned his head and listened to what Mimi said. He popped a few jelly beans into his mouth, grimacing at the strange combo of sizzling cinnamon, watermelon, cotton candy, and Tutti-Frutti . He chewed the weird combo and swallowed. He dipped his hand in the bag again, this time he looked at the 6 or so jelly beans in his hand before popping them in his mouth. They were watermelon and Cotton Candy. A combo he found yummy.
He watched her popping a few of her own candies into her mouth. A grin covering his face when she spoke again. That’s where he remembered her from! He swallowed before speaking ”That’s it! I knew I remembered you from somewhere!! Those kids pissed me off. They had no right picking on you. He said smiling ”I hated that they picked on you. It wasn’t right. And just because you weren’t as rich as the others. I remember telling them ‘it doesn’t matter how much money one has. She’s still a good person. You don’t need all the money in the world to be happy Zane said smiling softly. His lackluster eyes taking a gleam to them.
He took another bite of his pretzel, ’’I’ll be back. I need to get a drink. Zane said softly. He got up, and walked over to a place, looking at the displays of drinks, he opted for a Fiji water bottle. He paid and walked back to the table where Mimi sat. He grinned and sat down. ’’sorry

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky- - - - - - - - - - - - are like shooting stars He ran his hand over his left arm. She kind of tilted her head thinking about what it might be. He put a few more candies into his mouth and kind of made a funny face. She almost laughed, but didn’t. Must have been a bad combination of things. He took another handful and looked at it this time. Apparently he was content with this combination because he didn’t put any back. She put a few mini sour gummy bears in her mouth and smiled. The taste of sour was amazing to her. She then put a fruit roll-up type thing in her mouth. That was really sour. But, she had taught herself never to make a face no matter how sour it might be.
He then exclaimed something. He then mentioned that those kids pissed him off, that they had no right picking on her for something she didn’t have. Then he said that he told them that she was still a good person. That you didn’t need all the money in the world to be happy. She thought she felt herself blush and kind of put her hand up to her face. She felt some heat, but not a lot. Good. She didn’t like the feeling of blushing. It kind of made her feel little kid like almost. He smiled then and she smiled back. ”Thank you.” Okay, so, it may have been awhile, but still. She still felt the need to say something about it.
He then said that he would be back because he needed a drink. She nodded and watched him get up and leave the table. He came back shortly and said sorry. ”No need to be sorry. You’re fine.” He just got a water. Which reminded her of the coke that still sat in front of her. She popped the cap off and took a big gulp of it. Caffeine. Yum. She screwed the cap back onto the half gone drink and then looked back up. ”So, what’s been going on in your life?” What else could she have said? After kindergarten, she never saw him again basically. He moved to America. She was kind of interested to here about his life however. What he had been up to and stuff like that.

Zane sat sideways in his chair again, leaning against whatever their table was up against. He hadn't really paid much attention to that. His he watched Mimi eat her own sweets, noticing that they are sour. He would have made a face. "How do you not make a face when eating sour? I hate that it happens to me. I've tried to.... train... I guess that's the word... myself to not... Didn't work" Zane said laughing. He looked over at Mimi, before opening up his Fiji water. Took a couple swigs of it. He popped four sizzling cinnamon into his mouth, again closing his eyes, in bliss at the sting of flavor. It truly was his favorite flavor Jelly bean. Kiki had hated the flavor when she had been alive.
He listened to her say 'Thank you.' He smiled and said ''You are very Welcome Mimi." He said, he took note of her slight flush, but didn't mention it, he didn't want her to feel embarrassed. He put the bulging bag of Jelly Beans on the table, and reached for the pretzel again. He tore off a piece and again popped it in his mouth, chewed and swallowed.
He tensed ever so slightly when she asked 'so, whats been going on in your life?'. He turned to face Mimi again, before speaking, resting his arms on the table, scars from the self harming and accident in plain view. He didn't care much though. ''Well. My parents moved us to a small town in Manchester, Kentucky. Kiki and I made friends. But it wasn’t' the same like in Italy. This place was small, under 2000 in the population. We were there for about... well, until my freshman year here in Trenton. We were separated for that year. Kiki and I, I mean. She went to a school in Italy. While she was in Italy, I was in Trenton. We talked everyday. After my freshman year... He paused slightly, his hands getting twitchy, he grabbed his Fiji and took a sip before continuing, his voice sort of shaky. ''Uhh. The summer of my freshman year my parents, Kiki and myself were out for dinner one night. My dad lost control of the car... My parents and Twin lost their life that night. I was..... seriously injured, but alive. Zane said softly, head tilted to the side. The sun hitting his neck. The faint, yet shiny scars could clearly be seen. He stopped talking, started chewing on his lower lip

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky- - - - - - - - - - - - are like shooting stars He then asked how she was able to keep a straight face while eating sour candy. He had also mentioned that he had tried to, train himself, but it didn't work out so well. She smiled, "Well, I guess I kind of trained myself too. Also, sour candies are my favorites. Probably the best thing in the world to me." She smiled again and popped a few lemonheads in her mouth. Lemonheads and the sour gummy worms had to be her favorite. He then put a jellybean in his mouth and closed his eyes. "So, I'm guessing that flavor is your favorite then." She didn't really, acquire the taste for jellybeans like others did. She wasn't very fond of the texture of it when you bit in to it.
He then said your welcome to the whole being her friend thing. "No need for that. It's not like it was a favor or anything." She kind of bent her head down and felt more embarrassed. She knew that once a person said thank you, the other said your welcome, but she wasn't really expecting him to. She took another drink of the coke and left the cap off this time. It was almost empty anyways.
He then went on to what has happened. He said that his parents, him and Kiki moved to a small town in Kentucky, but up until his freshman year. Once that happened, Kiki went to a school back in Italy, but the summer of his freshman year, they all went out for dinner. His father lost control of the car and his parents and twin were both killed. He, only badly wounded. Her smile faded away immediately. She hated sad stories where nothing turned out the way you intended it to. "I'm so sorry," was all she could manage to get out. He kind of leaned and let the sun hit his neck. Scars could be seen and he started to bite his lower lip.
Mimi had no battle scars. She only had a slightly broken heart to tell of. She didn't know what to say to cheer him up. She quickly got up and moved to the other side of the table and gave him a hug. What else could she do? "The only reason I am here is because something similar happened to me. My mom died of cancer because she smoked too much. And my dad and brother..." she trailed off remembering her brother, "Well, Ilario and my father were suppose to be getting me a cake, and since we didn't have enough money for a car, they walked to the baker's. A drunk driver hit them. The doctor said that they didn't experience any pain, that it was instant." She swallowed back the tears, trying not to get all teary eyed or whatever. "I was put in the foster home until Lisa and John came along. They were newly married and wanted a kid. Since I was older and didn't have much time left before they kicked me out, they adopted me and took me in as if I was their own." She didn't mean to, but she was pretty sure she hugged him a little tighter. She let go after a few seconds and then took some deep breaths to make sure she wasn't going to cry or anything.

Zane nodded his head, ”hmm I suppose it would help if I were a fan of sour candies. The combo I just ate merely tasted weird together. Separate, they taste good. I used to hate them. My little sister forced them down my throat a couple years ago. Kinda hooked now. Zane said chuckling. She asked if the one he had just put in his mouth was his favorite. He guessed he must of closed his eyes. ”Oh? Yes. I love Sizzling Cinnamon. It’s just kinda sweet, then this burst of….. I don’t know how to describe it. You get the kick of the flavor, the… spiciness. It’s sooo good.” Zane said popping said of said flavor in his mouth, again closing his eyes.
He noticed her get more embarrassed when he said thank you. ”I’m sorry… I don’t mean to make you feel embarrassed. Forgive me Zane said softly, looking at the wall, his own face kinda flushed. He tore off a piece of pretzel and put it in his mouth.
Zane heard her say, ‘I’m so sorry’ after he explained, he felt his eyes tearing up. Mentally cursing himself, he accepted the hug Mimi gave him after she moved over to his side of the table ”Thanks” he said softly, his voice hitching with emotion. He briefly rested his head on her shoulder, and hugged her back. She started explaining about what happened to her own family. That made him feel bad, that his problems made her talk about a past she too probably hated talking about. He could hear the emotion in her voice.
”I too am sorry for your losses. It’s never easy. It hasn’t gotten any easier. for me at least. I have the bad habit of…… he trailed off ”It’s hard losing your other half. We had that ‘twin bond’ you hear about with twins. It broke my heart to see her lifeless eyes staring at me when first she died. His own voice, voicing emotion. When she pulled back out of the hug, he ran his hand over his face, into his hair. My sister took me and my younger sister in after the accident happened. She too, was a newlywed. I’m glad you have a place to call home. I can’t imagine being separated from my younger sister..[/b] Zane said trailing off. He looked at Mimi, he could tell she was fighting tears ”I’ve found…. That crying sometimes does help… If you ever need a shoulder to lean on, I’ll be there... Zane said, his voice sincere.
